• OnlyGolfers team up with Porsche Carrera Cup North America as presenting sponsor
  • Road America and Indianapolis rounds to highlight the innovative golf app
  • Kellymoss racer Michael McCann takes inaugural Only Golfers Driver’s Challenge

Innovative golfing app OnlyGolfers has teamed with Porsche Motorsport North America as the presenting sponsor for the Road America and Indianapolis weekends – combining the passion for driving golf balls and driving race cars.

The OnlyGolfers branding was featured on the field of Porsche 911 GT3 Cup machines at Road America for the first time, with Kellymoss racer Loek Hartog taking a pair of wins on the classic 4.0-mile road course.

However, it was teammate Michael McCann who took the honors on the golf course.

To celebrate the partnership, Hartog, McCann, and Jordan Wallace (Kellymoss), Scott Blind (Ruckus Racing), Marco Cirone (ACI Motorsports), and Colin Kaminsky (Topp Racing) took to the links for the Only Golfers Driver’s Challenge. This competition pitted the racers in a golfing skills competition featuring driving, chipping, and putting.

Not only did McCann win the overall competition, but he also took home the bragging rights for the longest drive.

“The goal of OnlyGolfers is really to make the game of golf more accessible,”

“One of the challenges people face is finding opportunities to play with golfers that you want to play with and finding people who were similar to you.

“That’s where the OnlyGolfers app comes in. It is an all-encompassing golf platform where you can connect with other people who are looking for golf in the area that you’re trying to golf on a given day, in a given place.

“We’re developing a smart matching algorithm to look at how skilled you are, what your preferences are as a golfer, and match you up with people that you want to golf with or with rounds that you want to join.”

The OnlyGolfers app is available on both the Apple and Android platforms. The app aims to connect golfers with other players of similar skill levels and interests and highlight opportunities where people can play.

By highlighting your skill level, interests and current location – even if you are traveling – the app can find golf opportunities anywhere across the US.

“OnlyGolfers connected with Porsche Carrera Cup North America because we saw it as a great opportunity to connect with a very similar audience and target demographic,” said Pellettiere.

“There are a lot of Porsche owners and Porsche fans who also play golf – some seriously, some very casually. Our goal is to really tap into the social side of golf and connect people with similar skills and interests.

“Our golfing competition with the drivers at Road America was a great example – as soon as we flagged the idea, we very quickly had a group that was ready to play.

“Road America was a great location to showcase OnlyGolfers, and the upcoming race at Indianapolis will be even better – they even have a golf course right at the track, so that is perfect.”

Porsche Carrera Cup North America is scheduled to hit the track at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway from September 19-22. While their main focus will be driving at the famous “Brickyard” that weekend – McCann and his Carrera Cup colleagues already have their sights set on more “driving” opportunities at the Brickyard Crossing course, which features four of its 18 holes actually inside the race track.
