Attracting the best Pro, Pro-Am and Amateur sports car drivers from North America and around the world, the Porsche Deluxe Carrera Cup North America is the premier one-make championship on the continent, with drivers competing in identical Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Type 992) race cars.
Carrera Cup races across the country at the biggest motorsport events in the USA, delivering market-leading event attendees, broadcast reach, and premium experiences for all drivers, teams, and partners involved.
The new 922 generation 911 GT3 cup car made its world competition debut in Porsche Deluxe Carrera Cup North America in 2021.
The spectacularly styled cup car is the first racing version based on the current 922 generation road car and the first one-make cup racer of the German sports car manufacturer to feature a wide turbo spec body.
Producing around 375 KW (510 HP), the new 911 GT3 Cup Type 992 exceeds the output of its immediate predecessor by 25 horsepower.
The overall increase in performance of the 992 generation – over the type 991 II generation – was immediately apparent in the championship with lap times nearly as quick as that year’s 911 GT3 R race cars in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The development also showed itself in the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup rounds in 2021, where lap times were slashed by up to three seconds at most European circuits.
This was due to not only the increase in power, but increased traction and downforce. The life of individual components was also extended compared to the previous generation – offering lower running costs and reliability for all.
After a total of 53 drivers competed in the North American championship in 2023, the 2024 season looks to be even bigger with new drivers, new teams, and incredible new venues.
The series will again race at some of the biggest events on the North American racing calendar, including the 12 Hours of Sebring, Watkins Glen Six Hours, Petit Le Mans and at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Six Hours.
But the spotlight will shine even brighter for three key events where the Porsche Deluxe Carrera Cup North America will compete on the world stage. The championship will once again compete on the Miami Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend and will draw to a close – again on the Formula 1 program – at Austin’s Circuit of The Americas with the United States Grand Prix. New for 2024 is the addition of the Canadian Grand Prix which sees the series returning to Canada after a year away.
With a capacity field, breathtaking racing cars, and some of the world’s best Pro, Pro-Am, and Am sports car drivers, 2024 will again raise the bar for this incredible championship. In motorsport, there is only one thing that matters to us: our team. We drive together. We win together. Of course, the race car, drivers, and the lap times are in focus, but we know for sure: it’s the teamwork that enables all of us to achieve our pinnacle. We face every challenge as one because achieving a dream has always been our strongest drive. In every racing series, in every race, on every track around the world.
‘It takes a team to achieve a dream.’
Especially at all those places where the Porsche One-Make-Series are at home. Those are the places where you can feel the team spirit – or as we like to call it Dream Spirit – in a unique way. With more than seven decades in motorsport, we know exactly that dreams are achieved in teams. No matter if it’s 24-hours-racing or a race in the Porsche One-Make-Series, Dream Spirit is always key to success.
With the new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, a new team member is standing by: for our customer racing teams, our motorsport fans and for everyone who loves sports cars
The race track is where the sense of team spirit can be truly felt. The first Porsche One-Make-Series with a 911 took place three decades ago, and every race weekend since then has seen vast numbers of motor-sport racers compete against one another. Their team partner on the most thrilling race tracks in the world is always the same: the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup.
The purpose of Dream Spirit is also reflected in the vehicle design. For the first time, the new race car is being delivered in GT Silver Metallic. A colour, which on the one hand emphasises the sportiness and on the other hand has historical significance in motorsport.
Those who take a closer look at the communication design of the new 911 GT3 Cup will notice a myriad of race tracks running across this silver-coloured vehicle. These indicate where the 911 GT3 Cup will be taking to the grid in its inaugural season. Another design highlight is the stripe running across the race car. Already a feature of the 911 RSR, this line represents a red thread, or blue in the case of the 911 GT3 Cup, that has long run through the timeless design of the 911 family.
We live up to our dream. As a team.
The new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup is the first race car based on the eighth generation of the Porsche 911 (992). It’s made for young focused talents starting their careers as well as experienced professionals who are fighting for places on podiums. And yet, enthusiastic classic drivers will still find it easy to handle.
The 4.0-litre, six-cylinder horizontally opposed engine provides 375kW (510PS) of power; a clear indicator of its intended purpose: to take part in races and to win. The proven Porsche six-speed sequential dog-type gearbox with electronic shift barrel actuator, more downforce, double wishbone We live up to our dream. As a team. front suspension, and optional available ABS and traction control are developed especially for those looking for the ideal line in the Porsche One-Make-Series.
Team players always think of their teammates first: with an ergonomic, completely revised interior with a large colour display, illuminated controls and a motor-sport steering wheel made of carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP), the inside of the race car quickly feels like home. The new 911 GT3 Cup is rounded off with the characteristic GT rim-tyre combination and an increased number of personalisation options for the seating position.
In its newest form, the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup is primed for the race track with every fibre of its steel body and is just waiting to be unleashed.
The Porsche 911 GT3 Cup is the most versatile race car of Porsche Motorsport. Because it can be used by the novice drivers in the Porsche Racing Experience, but can also be called into action for national and international One-Make-Series. For the 2021 season, these exclusively include the Carrera Cups Asia, Benelux, Germany, France and North America, as well as the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.

Since 1990, Porsche Cup vehicles have been built on the base of the 911. On November 28, 2022, the 5,000th Cup vehicle rolled off the assembly line. At the same time, almost 5,000 races have been conducted in one-make series with Porsche Cup vehicles – a unique success story.
Upon the development of the Porsche 964 in 1990, the “Porsche Carrera Cup” was launched. The philosophy of the race series: uniform vehicles, tires, and fuel. On a technical level, cup vehicles are identical; the same goes for the Michelin tires. Everyone starts under the same conditions.
The first Porsche Carrera Cup Germany in 1990 was won by Olaf Manthey. He raced across the Circuit Zolder in Belgium with his Kümmerling-green Porsche 911 and claimed the championship title.
The 911 GT3 Cup vehicles are assembled in the main 911 facility in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen, the very same production line as the other road-going sports cars. The race cars are always constructed during model years, often in fall/autumn, to be ready for the next season. One production run takes about eight hours, after which the vehicle is mostly completed and merely needs a final touch along with an approval run before the vehicle can be delivered “race-ready”.
After originally launching in Germany, Porsche Carrera Cup racing went international in 1993 with the launch of the Mobil 1 Porsche Supercup, which accompanies major Formula 1 races. German racer Altfrid Heger took the championship in its first year. In 2024, The Mobil 1 Porsche Supercup will begin its 32nd consecutive season.
Porsche Carrera Cup competition has been a breeding ground for international motorsport stars – many of whom today retain important roles with Porsche Motorsport.
Porsche GT legends – Jörg Bergmeister, Timo Bernhard, Marc Lieb and Patrick Pilet – all kick-started their careers with championship success in Porsche Carrera Cup Germany.
New Zealand racer Earl Bamber won a pair of Asian Porsche Carrera Cup championships and earned the 2014 Mobil 1 Porsche Supercup crown before going on to take two victories in the 24 Hour of Le Mans for Porsche in 2015 and 2017. He remains a race team owner in Porsche Carrera Cup Australia, and his team was the squad behind Team Australia’s GT win in the 2022 FIA Motorsport Games.
Three drivers from the Porsche Penske Motorsport 963 LMDh program are former Carrera Cup winners. Matt Campbell (Carrera Cup Australia champion, 2015) and Mathieu Jaminet (Carrera Cup France champion, 2015) became factory Porsche drivers after their success and won the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GT title in 2023. Both drove the Porsche 963 in IMSA competition in 2023.
British racer Nick Tandy won Carrera Cup Germany in 2011 and went on to take an overall 24 Hours of Le Mans victory in 2015. He returned to the Porsche family in 2023 aboard a Porsche 963 alongside Jaminet.
Another Carrera Cup champion, Kevin Estre, will race the Porsche 963 in the FIA World Endurance Championship while Porsche GT racer Jaxon Evans is another former Carrera Cup champion.
Kay van Berlo and Trenton Estep both earned a spot in the Porsche Selected Driver Program North America thanks to their achievements in the Porsche Deluxe Carrera Cup North America campaigns.
2021’s inaugural Porsche Carrera Cup presented by Cayman Islands champion Seb Priaulx went on to race Porsche machinery to victory in the FIA WEC and returned to the US in 2023 in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with new team, AO Racing.
Each division is divided by age group with all drivers competing in the same specification Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Type 992).
Aged 17 to 35
Featuring the stars of the future, the Pro class in Porsche Deluxe Carrera Cup North America is proving to be a key launching pad for young talent. 2021 Pro champion Seb Priaulx went on to become a race winner in the FIA WEC aboard a Porsche in 2022 and will again be in Porsche machinery in the 2024 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship back in the US. Porsche Selected Driver Program North America racers Kay van Berlo and Trenton Estep (multiple 2022 race winners) earned spots in the program thanks to their Pro class success.
Aged 36 to 55
These racers staged an epic battle for championship success over the past two years. Efrin Castro took the title by only two points in the Pro-Am category in 2021 over Alan Metni. In 2022, Metni fought back to claim the championship – this time by only three points. In 2023 Castro found himself back on the top step of the championship after winning 7 races. A total of 15 racers contested the Pro-Am class in the Porsche Deluxe Carrera Cup in 2023.
56 and over
They may not be as young as the Pro stars at the front of the pack, but the desire to succeed is just as fierce. Mark Kvamme took a narrow championship win in the Am class last year with 8 wins from 16 races – edging out Scott Noble by only 3 points.
