Tom Sargent enters the next phase of his career riding a wave of momentum, adding a full-season campaign in the European Le Mans Series to an already successful 2026 season across North America.

Sargent arrives in Europe on the back of a breakthrough run of results, including victory in GT World Challenge America with GMG Racing alongside Kyle Washington last weekend.

Just weeks earlier, Sargent also stood on the podium in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, finishing third at Sebring with Adam Adelson and Callum Ilott in the grueling Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.

The Australian now adds a major European endurance program with Proton Competition, where he will contest the ELMS season alongside Porsche factory driver Richard Lietz and American driver Matt Kurzejewski.

A new chapter begins in Europe.

“This is a big milestone for me,” said Sargent. “To go and race in Europe and experience these tracks is something I’ve always wanted to do. It feels similar to when I first came to the U.S. and started ticking off those circuits. Now I get to do that again in Europe, and that’s really special.

“I’ve already been fortunate to sample a couple of these venues, and just arriving at places you’ve watched on TV for years is incredible. It’s a pretty surreal feeling, and it’s going to be a big step in my development as a driver.”

The six-round ELMS championship will take Sargent across some of the world’s most iconic venues:

2026 European Le Mans Series schedule
12 April – 4 Hours of Barcelona (Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Spain)
3 May – 4 Hours of Le Castellet (Circuit Paul Ricard, France)
5 July – 4 Hours of Imola (Imola Circuit, Italy)
23 August – 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps (Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium)
13 September – 4 Hours of Silverstone (Silverstone Circuit, United Kingdom)
10 October – 4 Hours of Portimão (Algarve International Circuit, Portugal)

“To be paired with someone like Richard is huge,” Sargent added. “He brings so much experience and knowledge, and having that around you is invaluable. I think we’ve got a really strong lineup, and I’m looking forward to what we can achieve together. “I’ve been able to work with Matt now for a few days, and he has been great. We clicked straight away, and I really like working with him.”

Heritage-inspired livery marks 75 years of Porsche Motorsport.

Sargent’s ELMS entry will carry a special livery created to celebrate 75 years of Porsche Motorsport, blending historic design cues with modern identity.

The concept draws direct inspiration from the Porsche 356 SL, the car that delivered Porsche’s first class victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1951. Reflecting that heritage, the design adopts a deliberately minimalistic and functional approach.

A classic silver base forms the foundation of the livery, mirroring the understated look of its historic predecessor. Along the sides, the iconic round number panel returns as a clear nod to Porsche’s early motorsport identity, now featuring the number “75” to mark the anniversary.

To bridge past and present, the design also integrates elements from Porsche’s modern GT3 R communication livery, incorporating its distinctive pattern into the overall scheme. The result is a cohesive visual identity that reflects 75 years of Porsche Motorsport evolution – combining tradition with modern GT3 performance.

Expanding GT3 experience across global platforms.

The ELMS campaign complements a full slate of competition in North America, where Sargent continues to establish himself as one of Porsche’s rising GT talents.

He remains part of Wright Motorsports’ endurance lineup in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, while his full-season GT World Challenge America campaign with GMG Racing continues to deliver results.

“It’s been a really exciting year already,” Sargent said. “The GT World Challenge program has been a great platform, especially with the longer race format.
You’re learning how to manage races differently, how to work with your team over a longer stint, and that all ties directly into what I’ll be doing in ELMS.”

“That Sebring podium felt like a win for us,” he added. “It’s such a tough race, physically and mentally, and to come away with a result like that meant a lot to everyone involved.”

Porsche Pyramid progression continues

Sargent’s – from Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia champion to Porsche Carrera Cup North America race winner & 2024 Championship runner-up, and now into GT3 and international endurance racing – highlights the strength of the Porsche development pathway.

“The Porsche Pyramid really works,” he said. “I was able to get to GT3 level a lot quicker than I expected, and without that program, I wouldn’t be in this position.

“To be recognized as a Selected Driver and continue that relationship is something I’m really proud of. The goal is to keep building, keep improving, and stay within Porsche long-term.”

With strong results already secured and a full international schedule ahead, Sargent now enters a defining season in his career.

“It’s a bit of a pinch-me moment,” he said. “A few years ago, I was towing my own car to local tracks in Australia. Now I’m racing in the U.S. and Europe in top-level GT3 competition.

“But it just motivates you more. You want to keep pushing, keep improving, and make the most of every opportunity. This year is a big step, and I’m excited to see where it leads.”

Mitchell deJong continued his perfect start to the Porsche Esports Carrera Cup North America season, leading home Coanda teammate Xander Reed to secure a second consecutive 1–2 finish for Coanda Esports on iRacing at the Miami International Autodrome, home of the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix.

The result mirrored the season opener at Sebring and further established Coanda as the early benchmark in the iRacing championship.

Starting from the second row, deJong capitalized immediately on a chaotic run into Turn 1, where the field compressed four-wide on cold tires and triggered an early incident that forced a full-course yellow safety car period. He emerged with the lead and controlled the race from there, managing the gap through a tense second half on the tight, wall-lined street circuit.

Reed slotted in behind his teammate and remained within striking distance throughout, with limited opportunities to make a move as the race unfolded.

“It’s still a brand new car for a lot of us, so we just keep pushing and seeing what we can get,” deJong said.

“So I got lucky there at the start, but that was really good to have another awesome one-two result with us. That was a really good day.”

“As much as it is a team thing between Xander and I, it is an individual championship. So, for us, all we can do is work hard together and get the most out of ourselves. It’s nice to have the upper hand at least initially, and we’ll just keep fighting, keep learning more about this car.”

Behind him, Reed delivered another composed drive to secure his second consecutive runner-up finish and complete the Coanda sweep, opting against a late-race move that could have jeopardized the result.

“Yeah, it definitely gets a little spicy into T1 here with such a tight corner, and cold tires always make everything interesting,” Reed said.

“But everyone held their own at the front, and there weren’t any big issues that I had with anyone. It felt like it was pretty good.”

“I was pretty content with P2 for now. I didn’t want to cause any chaos with Mitchell or me, lose a bunch of positions, or cause a crash or something. So I wanted to just keep the one-two for the team and just move on to Watkins Glen.”

Sean D Campbell completed the podium after being shuffled back in the opening sequence, recovering to third in the race.

Across the field, the 40-minute sprint produced constant action, with multiple incidents and position changes highlighting the intensity of the spec Porsche 911 Cup (Type 992.2) machinery on iRacing.

At the front, however, nothing changed once deJong took control.

The three drivers who stood atop the Porsche Carrera Cup North America podium at Sebring International Raceway on Thursday returned to their same places on Friday during the series’ opening weekend.

In the Mobil Pro class, Tyler Maxson was uncontested for his first win on Thursday, but had to fight harder for his success in Race 2 with TOPP Racing. He narrowly beat a hard-charging Aaron Jeansonne on Friday by .674 seconds to the checkered flag.

“These guys did so much work over the offseason, so I’m happy to show off what this car can do,” said Maxson, a Porsche Junior Program North America driver. “Hopefully, we can carry this momentum into the rest of the year with these guys who have built such a strong package. We have such a strong team, just really happy to carry the momentum we ended off last year with.

“Anytime you walk out with a double win and maximum points, it helps build confidence. But we’re not naïve to how difficult this championship is and how difficult this road is going to be. So we just have to keep working and trudging away, and try to get as good of a package for the next race.”

While Maxson fended off his sophomore rival Jeansonne, rookie Callum Hedge slid into third place for his best finish of the weekend.

In the Solairus Aviation Pro-Am class, Patrick Mulcahy remained the undisputed driver to beat by winning both races at Sebring. Particularly on Friday, the ACI Motorsports driver finished more than 17 seconds ahead of his next closest competitor.

“It always feels good to win a race handedly,” said Mulcahy. “It felt great, but it was hot out today.

“But I can’t complain, it’s a good way to start the year – pole, double win. Let’s take it to Long Beach and do it again.”

Mulcahy finished ahead of James Sofronas in second place and Josh Conley in third.

Pmna Sebring 2026 940

Adding to the successful Sebring weekend was Mulcahy’s teammate, Marco Cirone, in the Solairus Aviation Masters class. After winning Race 1, Cirone started amongst the Pro competitors and ran a clean, 40-minute contest to sweep the weekend.

“The team gave me a great car,” said Cirone. “My coach, Dan (Clarke), is telling me what to do and evidently, it’s working.

“Usually I do things on my own, I’m very stubborn but in this particular case, they’re telling me what to do and I’m doing it. And everything has worked out great, it’s been a wonderful weekend.”

Rob Walker climbed to within two seconds of Cirone’s gap for second place, followed by Kayden Kelly in third.

The next round for Porsche Carrera Cup North America takes place at the Long Beach Street Circuit in southern California from April 17 – 19.

The first North American race for the Porsche 911 Cup (Type 992.2) and for the 2026 Porsche Carrera Cup North America season went to Tyler Maxson in an eye-catching battle at Sebring International Raceway.

Maxson, a Porsche Junior Program North America driver, led the opening lap after starting from pole position, but fell back to Jared Thomas (JTR Race Engineering) on Lap 2. The battle began at Turn 16 of the 3.74-mile circuit and lasted through Turn 3. But Thomas only held the top spot for 10 minutes until Maxson fought for it back.

Maxson went on for the Mobil Pro class victory by nearly eight seconds, while setting the K1 Speed Fastest Lap of the race with a new Sebring track record of 2:02.662. Maxson’s Race Brew Pole time of 2:00.313 obliterated Riley Dickinson’s previous 2023 record of 2:01.667.

“These TOPP guys have just put in so much work over the offseason to get us into the spot that we need to be,” said Maxson. “I’m just happy I could show it, that their hard work paid off.

“It’s still a long season, we’ve got a lot of races left to go. Really strong competition, so we’ve just got to keep the momentum going forward.”

In their battle, Maxson and Thomas allowed Aaron Jeansonne (Kellymoss) to close in before the race’s end. Thomas held on for second, but only by .146 seconds over Jeansonne, last season’s Rookie Driver champion.

Meanwhile, ACI Motorsports driver Patrick Mulcahy put on a masterclass performance in the Solairus Aviation Pro-Am category, leading flag-to-flag and running amongst Pro drivers throughout the race. Mulcahy not only led both practice sessions on Wednesday and captured pole on Thursday, but also finished eighth overall in Race 1.

“It feels absolutely amazing, I enjoyed every minute of it,” said Mulcahy, who finished 10 places higher on the overall charts than the next closest Pro-Am competitor. “JCD (Dubets), a good friend of mine, him and I battled for a long while and same with Connor Bloum. It was a blast out there.”

James Sofronas finished second place behind Mulcahy, followed by Brady Behrman in third.

ACI Motorsports was not only victorious in Pro-Am, but also with Marco Cirone starting and finishing first in the Solairus Aviation Masters class on Thursday. However, his success did not come easily.

The Canadian driver qualified on pole, but lost the position on Lap 1 to his teammate Richard Edge. Cirone regained the spot midway through the race and Edge finished behind by less than one second.

“It feels fantastic, especially the first one of the season,” said Cirone, who placed a season-high best of third place at Sebring in 2025. “Everything went well, including this morning’s qualifying. I want to thank the team for giving me an amazing car. If it wasn’t for them, I don’t think I’d be able to have that pace.”

Trailing the ACI Motorsports Masters duo was Rob Walker (JTR Motorsports Engineering) and his Herbie-inspired 911 Cup car in third place after a post race penalty was handed to Scott Blind (Ruckus Racing).

Tyler Maxson clicked off another top time during the Porsche Carrera Cup North America weekend at Sebring International Raceway, capturing the first Race Brew Pole Award of the season on Thursday morning.

In the TOPP Racing Porsche 911 Cup (Type 992.2) racecar, Maxson was fastest in the Mobil Pro class with a time of two minutes, 0.313 seconds. A day prior, the Porsche Junior Program North America driver ran fastest between the series’ two practice sessions at the 3.74-mile circuit.

“These TOPP Racing guys worked so hard this offseason to deliver us a really amazing car,” said Maxson.

“We’ve done that here in Sebring, and I think we have a car that’s capable of competing for wins all year, but these guys have put together such an amazing package for this race. I’m really happy to be able to go out and execute.

“The strategy for this race is to try, and pull away. This is a super competitive field at the end of the day. So I’m just trying to be mistake-free, get away as far as we can, and hopefully have a nice clean race.”

Behind Maxson was Aaron Jeansonne (Kellymoss) in second place by .392 seconds and Jared Thomas (JTR Race Engineering) in third place by .433 seconds.

In the Solairus Aviation Pro-Am class, Patrick Mulcahy also continued his Sebring momentum with a pole at 2:02.256. The ACI Motorsport driver’s time was more than a second quicker than the rest of his field, similar to his performance in Thursday’s two practices.

“It feels amazing,” said Mulcahy, who qualified 11th overall.

“It’s an awesome track here, and I’m happy to put it on pole in Pro-Am. I’m just going to focus on the Pro-Am championship.

“My goal is to keep it clean, focus on my race and not worry about the Pros too much. If I end up getting a good run on one of them, I’ll make a pass. But I’m focused on my race.”

Starting second in Pro-Am will be James Sofronas at 2:03.311 and starting third will be Josh Conley with a qualifying time of 2:05.102.

Meanwhile, powering to the Solairus Aviation Masters pole position was Mulcahy’s ACI Motorsports teammate, Marco Cirone. The Canadian was .216 seconds quicker than Richard Edge in second place and .333 seconds quicker than Chris Bellomo in third.

“It has has been a really good morning,” said Cirone. “I just have to thank the team, they did such a wonderful job. The car was fantastic and my coach, Dan Clarke, did a lot for me and really looked after the fine points.

“I’m happy to be able to come through for the team and put it in P1.”

Shortly before qualifying, it was announced that Race Brew 0.0% non-alcoholic beer will return for a second season as the pole award sponsor.

“We’re really excited about our continued partnership with Porsche and the sponsoring of the Porsche Carrera Cup NA Pole Award,” said Myers. “Race Brew – and Momentum Brewery as a whole – has really grown as a brand since last season, with our distribution growing from three states to 13, with more on the way. We’re on the shelves at Trader Joe’s and soon at Whole Foods, along with your favorite beer and wine stores, supermarkets, and online directly to your front door. We really value the alignment with a fellow German brand the caliber of Porsche. Race Brew, also a proud product of Germany, is the first true 0.0% to be imported by Momentum, and it won’t be the last. Stay tuned for a great season and our new Race Brew Pole Award Beer Stein trophies!”

Mitchell deJong opened the inaugural Porsche Esports Carrera Cup North America season with victory at Sebring International Raceway, edging Coanda Esports teammate Xander Reed by just 0.006 seconds in a decisive run to the checkered flag.

The race marked the opening round of a six-event championship running from March 18 through April 22, with additional rounds scheduled at the Miami International Autodrome (March 25), Watkins Glen (April 1), Road America (April 8), Indianapolis Motor Speedway (April 15) and Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta (April 22).

A 35-car field of North America’s top sim racers competed using the new Porsche 911 Cup (Type 992.2) on iRacing, mirroring the real-world Porsche Carrera Cup North America platform with fixed setups and identical machinery.

Starting second, deJong took the lead at the opening corner and, alongside Reed, established control of the race for Coanda Esports – a leading sim racing organization with close ties to Porsche’s global esports ecosystem and regular involvement at the highest levels of Porsche competition.

“We had a good plan throughout the whole race, just trying to manage things,” deJong said. “Once we qualified one-two, everything was to play fo,r and we knew we could control it from there.”

The Coanda pair ran nose-to-tail for much of the 40-minute race, balancing tire wear and using the draft to maintain track position while keeping the chasing pack at bay.

“The draft is really strong in these cars, and the lead car actually has a bit of a tire disadvantage,” deJong said. “So it’s not always where you want to be. We just tried to keep the pace high and not bring anyone else into the fight.”

A mid-race caution reset the field and eliminated the leaders’ advantage, setting up a sprint to the finish. On the restart, deJong maintained control, with Reed slotting back into second as the pair again edged clear.

“The safety car definitely threw a wrench in it,” deJong said. “That’s the one thing we didn’t really want because it brings everyone back together. After that, it was just about hitting our marks and keeping things clean.”

Pccna Sebring Esports 16

Reed remained within striking distance in the closing laps and mounted a final-lap challenge at Sunset Bend, diving to the inside in an attempt to take the lead. DeJong held firm on the outside line and carried superior momentum off the corner, reclaiming the advantage in a drag race to the line.

“We knew we wanted to race it out at the end, and it came down to that last corner,” deJong said. “I could trust the guy on my inside, which makes a big difference in that situation.”

“My tires were falling off quite a bit at the end, so I knew it was going to be close. It was stressful, but really fun racing.”

Manuel Troncoso completed the podium after closing on the leaders late, while Parker White advanced seven positions to finish fourth. Andrew Caron rounded out the top five.

Kai Dalziel delivered one of the standout drives of the race, gaining 12 positions to finish sixth, while Sean Campbell recovered from a mid-race incident to finish ninth.

The opening round featured multiple incidents throughout the field and highlighted the challenge of Sebring’s surface, with drivers managing both close-quarters racing and the circuit’s signature bumps.

Of note, Porsche Carrera Cup North America’s defending Rookie Champion and 2026 Kellymoss driver Aaron Jeansonne has qualified for the championship, but his first priority is his “analog” season. De Jong leaves Sebring as the championship leader as the series continues March 25 at Miami.

Tyler Maxson led the debut of the all-new Porsche 911 Cup (Type 992.2) on Wednesday at Sebring International Raceway, setting the fastest time in the afternoon as drivers raved about their first official laps in the new car.

Maxson’s 2:00.775 in the second session edged the morning benchmark of 2:01.076 set by Jared Thomas at the 3.74-mile circuit.

“It’s amazing, this car is so much fun,” said Maxson, a Porsche Junior Program North America driver in his sophomore season of Carrera Cup.

“It’s different, but it’s a lot of fun, and it’s everything I think that this car needed. They made some awesome improvements, and it’s been really good so far. It’s been a lot of learning for us as a team and a lot of redeveloping that we’ve had to do, but it’s been a lot of fun.

“I think the pace is definitely going to ramp up a little bit more,” the TOPP Racing driver continued. “We feel pretty good about it. I think the wind makes a difference, but these cars aren’t too aero-sensitive I don’t think. We feel good about it.”

Thomas’ time wound up third fastest on the day of Mobil Pro class drivers, with Aaron Jeansonne splitting him and Maxson for second quickest at 2:01.023 in Practice 2.

In the Solairus Aviation Pro-Am class, Patrick Mulcahy led the way also in his second season with the series. Mulcahy clocked in at 2:02.715 with ACI Motorsports, and he was the only driver to break the two-minute, three-second mark throughout the day to match the Pro drivers’ time.

“The team has been great, and I’ve got an awesome coach, Ryan Yardley,” said Mulcahy. “The team has given me an amazing car, so it’s my job to put it out there and put down a good lap.

“I’m going to stay focused on the weekend and the Pro-Am championship, but it’s going to be nice to be able to chop it up with some of those guys.”

James Sofronas posted the next best times in Pro-Am at 2:03.716 and 2:04.424 in the morning and afternoon sessions, respectively.

And a familiar name was atop the Solairus Aviation Masters Class – Scott Blind, returning to defend his championship from 2025. The Ruckus Racing driver ran fastest at Sebring in Practice 2 with a time of 2:02.715.

“The new car is great,” said Blind, last year’s Masters Class champion. “There’s a lot more pace in this car. It’s about extracting it and me getting the most out of the car, feeling that down force and being able to use it. I’m getting better and better at that, so I think that’s where it’s coming from.”

Following Blind on Wednesday’s time charts was Rob Walker at 2:02.920 and Chris Bellomo at 2:02.992.

The sixth season of Porsche Carrera Cup North America opens at Sebring International Raceway, carrying on a tradition that began with the inaugural season in 2021 – supporting the Mobile 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring. The 3.74-mile, 17-turn circuit in central Florida will be the site of races one and two of a total 16 in the season for all-new Porsche 911 Cup (Type 992.2). In addition to the car car, teams and drivers will have a new tire for 2026 with the addition of the Pirelli P Zero DHG tire.

The Porsche 911 Cup car delivers circa 520 hp from a normally aspirated 4.0-liter boxer engine shared with the unit used in the Porsche 911 GT3 road car. The car has already proven to be quicker and more practical with refined aerodynamics, cockpit ergonomics and updated electronics. In testing drivers got a feel for the newly added air conditioning system. The type 992.2 car is featured in just four championships this season; that includes Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, Porsche Carrera Cup Germany and Porsche Carrera Cup Asia in addition to Porsche Carrera Cup North America.

Pmna Carrera Cup Test 2026 084

Sebring opener.

Sebring International Raceway is a long-standing favorite on the Porsche Carrera Cup North America calendar, opening the season every year since 2021, in support of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring. A year ago, Riley Dickinson and Kellymoss swept the weekend overall on his way to finishing runner-up in the season championship.

Testing, testing.

Teams got a first look at the new Porsche 911 Cup car and Pirelli P Zero combination during the official pre-season test, February 16 – 17 at Sebring International Raceway. Five drivers ran a lap under the existing lap record, led by TOPP Racing’s Tyler Maxson in 2:01.250 during the second day’s morning session. Janne Stiak (ACI Motorsports), Aaron Jeansonne (Kellymoss), Callum Hedge (JDX Racing) and Jared Thomas (JTR Motorsports Engineering) were the remaining five, all from different race teams.

International acclaim.

Porsche Carrera Cup North America has, throughout its history, been an opportunity for international drivers to compete. After five seasons, each championship driver has come from a different country – Sebastian Priaulx (Great Britan), Parker Thompson (Canada), Riley Dickinson (United States), Loek Hartog (Netherlands), and Ryan Yardley (New Zealand).

New faces.

Several new faces enter Porsche Carrera Cup North America this year in an effort to advance their racing career. Janne Stiak, the 19-year-old German racer, joins ACI Motorsports for 2026 and his first season in North America. He’s the 2024-25 Porsche Carrera Cup Middle East champion and has already competed in Porsche Carrera Cup Germany, Italia and Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. Nakita Latochkin of Czabok-Simpson Motorsport got as far as Indy Lights before moving to sports car racing. In 2025, he ran selected races with CSM in IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge in a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, while also competing in drift events. JDX Racing’s newest driver, Callum Hedge, was a successful open-wheel driver. Hedge competed in Indy NXT the past two seasons, scoring a pair of podium finishes, and was the 2023 Formula Regionals America champion. He has Porsche experience, however, and in 2023 he also won Porsche Carrera Cup Australia.

Mobil 1 Female Driver Program.

This initiative enters its fourth year in 2026 and continues to prove its value. Both Madeline Stewart and Ashely Freiberg competed in Porsche Carrera Cup North America last season while benefiting from the program. This year they progress into Michelin Pilot Challenge and SRO GT4 America respectively, both behind the wheel of Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsports. Freiberg joins fellow Female Driver Program participants Loni Unser, Therese Lahlou, and Erika Hoffmann in the SRO paddock in 2026. Meanwhile Sabré Cook will contest the Mobil Pro class of Porsche Carrera Cup North America with JDX Racing.

Partner up.

Porsche Motorsport North America partners keep the series moving forward. Solairus Aviation returns not only as the title partner of the Solairus Aviation Pro-Am and Solairus Aviation Masters Classes for 2026, but as the series Presenting Partner at Sebring. Mobil returns as the Mobil Pro Class title partner.

Analog and digital.

Porsche Esports Carrera Cup North America mirrors its real-life counterpart, with 40 Type 992.2 Porsche 911 Cup cars competing through iRacing in a one-make championship. The series makes its debut at Sebring International Raceway on the evening of 18 March. Porsche Carrera Cup North America’s defending Rookie Champion and Kellymoss driver Aaron Jeansonne has qualified for the championship, but his first priority is his “analog” season.

Beach Vacation.

The Grand Prix of Long Beach returns to the Porsche Carrera Cup North America calendar for the 2026 season, joining seven other premier events on the schedule. The last Long Beach visit for Porsche Carrera Cup North America came in 2023. In addition to the famed street course in April and this weekend’s race at Sebring, the calendar features classic road courses with IMSA at Watkins Glen, Road America, Indianapolis and Road Atlanta and races in support of Formula One at Miami and Circuit of the Americas.

Sabre Cook, the first female driver to compete in Porsche Carrera Cup North America, will return to JDX Racing for her fourth season in the championship and second consecutive year with the Colorado-based team in 2026.

The Colorado native continues with JDX Racing’s multi-car program as the series enters a new era with the debut of the Porsche 911 Cup (Type 992.2) and the introduction of Pirelli as the championship’s official tire supplier.

Cook has competed exclusively in the Pro class since entering the championship in 2023, making history as the first woman to take the green flag in Porsche Carrera Cup North America.

After joining JDX Racing ahead of the 2025 season, she recorded 11 point-scoring finishes, including a pair of top-seven results at the final round at Circuit of the Americas.

“I am excited and grateful to continue with JDX Racing in Porsche Carrera Cup North America for a second season,” Cook said.

“The environment within the team is great, and going into 2026 with guys I can trust – who are fully invested in our success as a team – is what builds the foundation for strong performances.

“I’m really enjoying the new 992.2 car and the new Pirelli tire. It’s going to be a fun season, and I can’t wait to fight hard on track for the JDX crew.”

The 2026 season marks the introduction of the new Porsche 911 Cup (Type 992.2), which features updated aerodynamics and a refined 4.0-liter flat-six engine producing approximately 520 horsepower.

The technical package is paired with Pirelli P Zero race tires, which made their series debut during the official test at Sebring International Raceway last month.

JDX Racing Team Principal Jeremy Dale said Cook’s return brings continuity and momentum to the program.

“We are so pleased to have Sabré back for her second season in a JDX Racing Porsche,” Dale said.

“Sabré is the definition of a professional – in and out of the car. Her attention to detail in every respect is incredible, and that showed last year as she gradually got comfortable with the team and made steady progress through the year.

“She finished the season super strong at COTA with a pair of top-seven finishes. We can’t wait to see her continue on that same trajectory in 2025.”

The 2026 Porsche Carrera Cup North America season opens March 18-20 at Sebring International Raceway, supporting the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring. The event marks the first of eight rounds and 16 races on the calendar, concluding in October at Circuit of the Americas.

JDX Racing has competed in Porsche Carrera Cup North America since the championship’s inaugural 2021 season, following its success in the previous Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama era. The team claimed the driver’s championship in 2022 and has earned multiple race victories across each season of Carrera Cup competition.

All Porsche Carrera Cup North America races stream live on Peacock in the United States, as well as IMSA.tv and the IMSA YouTube channel internationally. Coverage is also available across Porsche Motorsport North America’s digital platforms, including YouTube, Facebook, X, and LinkedIn.

Michael McCann and Zachary Vanier are taking the next step up the Porsche Motorsport Pyramid in 2026 with a full-season Pro class effort in GT World Challenge America powered by Amazon Web Services.

The former Porsche Carrera Cup North America contenders will campaign the new Porsche 911 GT3 R with McCann Racing as they transition into professional GT3 endurance racing.

From rivals to co-drivers

For Vanier, the move is both a progression and a culmination.

“For 2026, I’m super excited to be joining McCann Racing with our effort in the SRO GT World Challenge North America Championship in the GT3 R,” Vanier said.

“It’s fantastic to be paired up with Michael. He was one of the guys in the paddock I managed to build a really close friendship with throughout my two years in Porsche Carrera Cup North America. An amazing family, an amazing team. For us to have nailed the program down together feels super special.”

Their partnership was not built in a boardroom. It began in the paddock.

Before they were teammates, they were rivals in Carrera Cup. They were in the same paddock at the track – conversations at the Porsche PenFed Driver’s Lounge about 2026 turned into concrete plans.

“I found a really good co-driver,” McCann said. “Before he was my teammate, he was obviously a very close friend of mine. Zachary and I always hit it off at the track. That friendship kind of developed into, ‘Hey, what are you doing next year? What are you doing in two years?’”

The answer, eventually, became clear.

Forged in Porsche’s single-make arena

Both had spent recent seasons sharpening themselves in Porsche’s single-make environment – a platform that leaves nowhere to hide. Identical machinery. Minimal variables. Forty-minute sprint races that demand total commitment from green flag to checkered.

“It’s just full-bore focus,” McCann said of Carrera Cup. “Green flag, and you’re driving like mad. There’s no strategy, no pit stops. You have to make up as much room as you can. That’s why qualifying is so important.”

Vanier views it similarly, but with a developmental lens shaped by his time in the Porsche Junior Program.

“The biggest thing was maturing within the Porsche product,” he said. “I feel very fortunate for the opportunities Porsche gave me within the Junior Program – being recognized, and representing Porsche Motorsport North America at the Porsche Global Shootout. Over the last three years, it was about emphasizing the Porsche Motorsport Pyramid and going through it as it’s designed to work. I feel like that’s exactly what I’ve been able to do.”

Those experiences reinforced the step-by-step progression the pyramid is built to create.

That structure now leads them to GT3 racing – a world of more downforce, more adjustability, longer races and, crucially, shared responsibility.

Learning the GT3 language

Vanier has not yet turned a wheel in the new GT3 R, with his first test scheduled at Sebring in early March. But he already understands the scale of the shift.

“There are some expectations related to results and outcomes that we want,” he said. “But there’s a lot to learn and overcome, both personally and as a team.

“We’re entering it with an open mindset – being a sponge, soaking in everything from the team side, from Porsche’s side, and trying to maximize the program.”

The transition from 40-minute sprints to three-hour endurance races fundamentally changes the objective.

“It’s not about outright pace for a short distance anymore,” Vanier said. “It’s about longevity. Making sure we have a car at the end of three hours – and at Indy, making sure we have a car at the end of eight hours. There’s more technique and finesse involved. It’s a different approach.”

That evolution aligns directly with his long-term ambitions.

“The ultimate goal for me is to solidify myself as an endurance driver,” he said. “Whether that’s in SRO competition or IMSA. This was the goal. Now it’s about incorporating Michael’s preferences in the car as well – working together to get the car in a window where we’re both comfortable and able to maximize it.”

A return to GT3 roots

For McCann, the GT3 return carries its own meaning.

He grew up in a racing family. His father competed in Speed World Challenge in the early 2000s before earning a Cadillac factory opportunity that was cut short during the 2009 financial crisis. Racing was always part of the household vocabulary.

“There’s no better place than being at the track,” McCann said. “I’ve always been around it. I’ve always loved it.”

McCann Racing previously competed in GT3 machinery between 2017 and 2019, before the team pivoted fully into Porsche Carrera Cup competition. Now, with a deep affinity for the brand and a trusted co-driver alongside him, the timing feels right.

“The most exciting part for us is getting back into GT3 racing,” McCann said. “And to have Zachary join the McCann Racing family – it’s honestly been a blessing that everything has come together like it has.”

Translating Cup pace to endurance consistency

Both drivers believe their years in the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car will ease the transition into the GT3 R.

“The Cup Car is the best training tool to prepare for the GT3R,” said McCann. “It’s a similar chassis, similar concept. We’re hoping it actually does everything nicer than a Cup car – it turns better, stops better.”

Vanier agrees, noting that while the GT3 platform introduces more variables – including Balance of Performance and competition from multiple manufacturers – it also expands a driver’s technical understanding.

“In Carrera Cup, it’s ultimately down to the driver,” he said.

“In World Challenge we’ll be working closely with Porsche, with the team, and even with other teams in the same manufacturer to give yourself the best platform across seven rounds – that’s going to be the name of the game.”

The program will compete in the Pro class, raising the bar further. Long-run pace, tire management, traffic navigation and co-driver harmony will carry more weight than a single qualifying lap.

“I think long-term pace will be more valuable than just having a one-lap flyer,” McCann said.

“That’s one thing Carrera Cup taught me. Now it’s about sharing the car, understanding what works for both of us, and building something consistent.”

A new chapter begins at Sonoma

The car itself has already arrived at the McCann Racing shop, wrapped and prepared for its Sebring shakedown. From there, the countdown to the opening round accelerates.

Three weeks later, the green flag will fall on a new chapter at Sonoma Raceway.

Two ex-Carrera Cup aces. One Pro-class GT3 R. A friendship forged in a single-make paddock now tested in one of North America’s premier GT championships.

For both McCann and Vanier, this is more than a schedule addition. It is the next deliberate step up the Porsche ladder – from sprint specialist to endurance contender.

With the Porsche Motorsport Pyramid continuing to work as designed, it won’t be the last.
